The Peach County Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the Northside Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Peach County will be strutting in after a victory while Northside will be coming in after a loss.
Peach County took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Manchester get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 16 games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Shaniyah Gibson was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Taleyah Marable, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Peach County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. The last time their batting average was this high was back in August.
Meanwhile, Northside faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Patriots lost 7-1 to the Lions.
Wetherly Ridley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Northside saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Fridley, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Peach County's record is now 17-12. As for Northside, they dropped their record down to 22-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Peach County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Northside struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Peach County might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from Northside in their previous meeting back in August. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
