Abraham Lincoln has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Parkway Center City Bulldogs at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Abraham Lincoln beat Sankofa Freedom Academy 37-31. The win was just what Abraham Lincoln needed coming off of a 60-34 defeat in their prior match.
Abraham Lincoln's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tatyanna Blair, who scored ten points. That makes it five consecutive games in which Blair has scored at least 25% of Abraham Lincoln's points. Makayla Taylor-Haynes was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Parkway Center City didn't have too much trouble with Penn Treaty on the road on Wednesday as they won 46-30. Given Parkway Center City's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Penn Treaty is ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Parkway Center City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jessica Canty, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kyla Hall, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Abraham Lincoln's record now sits at 4-1. Parkway Center City's record is now 4-1.
