Basketball Game Preview: Geibel Catholic Gators vs. West Greene Pioneers

Geibel Catholic hasn't had much luck against West Greene recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Geibel Catholic Gators will host the West Greene Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Geibel Catholic has six wins , while West Greene has four).

On Tuesday, Geibel Catholic took their game with ease, bagging a 61-23 victory over Ligonier Valley. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 30 points or more this season.

Geibel Catholic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Larkin out in front who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Larkin's 29th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ava Henderson, who posted 19 points and six steals.

While West Greene didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past McGuffey with a 45-39 victory on Friday.

West Greene's win came from a few key players Geibel Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kendra Tharp, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. Tharp is crushing it when it comes to points: she's scored at least 16 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Harris, who had five points and 11 rebounds.

Geibel Catholic's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for West Greene, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Geibel Catholic didn't have too much breathing room in their game against West Greene in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 49-44 win.
