The Silverado Hawks will venture away from home to square off against the Coachella Valley Mighty Arabs at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Silverado came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Redlands East Valley, falling 12-5.
Steven Gomez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Murphy, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Coachella Valley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They came out on top against Beaumont by a score of 4-0.
Not much got past Jesus Rivera, who gave up just a hit to keep Beaumont off the board. Furthermore, Rivera didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Dominic Alba was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Coachella Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Beaumont only posted a batting average of .050.
Silverado now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Coachella Valley, their record is now an identical 3-4.
Silverado's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. Silverado has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Coachella Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Silverado continue to outrun the ball?
Silverado took their victory against Coachella Valley in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 by a conclusive 16-2. Will Silverado repeat their success, or does Coachella Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
