Football Recap: Garden Plain Starts Season with Victory Against Trinity Academy

Garden Plain had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They enjoyed a cozy 34-15 win over the Trinity Academy Knights on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won six in a row.

Emrick Hays had a dynamite game, rushing for 327 yards while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 69 yards.

Garden Plain's run defense was locked in: Trinity Academy could only muster three yards per carry. While two picked up at least five total tackles, Hays stood above the rest. He rushed for 327 yards while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. Garden Plain didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garden Plain will head out to square off against Conway Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 893 yards in their previous games. As for Trinity Academy, they are headed away from home for the first time to challenge Inman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
