After flying high against the Indio Rajahs on Wednesday, the Banning Broncos came back down to earth. The matchup between Banning and Redlands East Valley wasn't particularly close, with Banning falling 62-44. Banning was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Redlands East Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.
Despite the loss, Banning still got an impressive performance from Maryanne Palacios, who scored 31 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Palacios' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Symora Prince was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Banning has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Redlands East Valley, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Banning will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Colton at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Redlands East Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Great Oak at 1:30 p.m. on December 22nd.
