The West Valley Mustangs won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They were dealt a 41-14 loss at the hands of Liberty. The result was an unpleasant reminder to West Valley of the 39-30 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Kelli Harris-Wellman, who scored nine points along with 18 rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Alex Barajas, who scored seven points along with five assists and five steals.
West Valley bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Liberty, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
West Valley will be playing at home against Tahquitz at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tahquitz presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Valley in California (Tahquitz is ranked 568th, while West Valley is ranked 1167th). As for Liberty, they will square off against Citrus Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Citrus Hill is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
