Football Game Preview: Potomac School Panthers vs. Bishop O'Connell Knights

The Potomac School Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Bishop O'Connell Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Bishop O'Connell took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Potomac School, who comes in off a win.

Potomac School is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. Everything went their way against St. Stephen's & St. Agnes on Saturday as they made off with a 35-14 victory. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.

Sean Sutherland was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 62 yards on only eight carries, and also threw for 81 yards and one touchdown. Those 62 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Akim Iscandari got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Potomac School was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 220 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

Potomac School didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Iscandari and Aarez Ahmed. Iscandari got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Bishop O'Connell fell victim to Landon and their airtight defense on Saturday. They came up short against the Bears, falling 21-0. The loss continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.

Bishop O'Connell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Potomac School, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Potomac School skirted past Bishop O'Connell 9-6 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
