The Rodriguez Mustangs will take on the Amador Valley Dons in a tournament on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Rodriguez came out on top against Vanden on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run second inning. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Austin Krebs tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Drew Beasley was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Rodriguez is undefeated when Beasley posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Nick Diaz was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Rodriguez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vanden only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Amador Valley). They blew past California 11-2 on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Amador Valley got a big performance out of Bradley Canfield, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Canfield's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Max Fried, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Rodriguez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Amador Valley, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Rodriguez's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Amador Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Rodriguez continue to outrun the ball?
