IC Catholic Prep is a perfect 7-0 against Trinity since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Knights will challenge the Blazers at 4:30 p.m. IC Catholic Prep knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Trinity likes a good challenge.
IC Catholic Prep proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 15) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out St. Francis 12-11. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Spartans on their field since May 10, 2023.
IC Catholic Prep got a massive performance out of Lexi Russ, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most runs Russ has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelly Cahill, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run and four RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: IC Catholic Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Trinity brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on Walther Christian Academy with a sharp 15-0 win on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Blazers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Gisella Corral was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Corral was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jaida Escanio was a standout: she got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Abby Young, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
IC Catholic Prep's record now sits at 15-3. As for Trinity, their record is now 5-10.
Trinity's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: IC Catholic Prep has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Trinity, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given IC Catholic Prep's sizable advantage in that area, the Blazers will need to find a way to close that gap.
IC Catholic Prep got the 'W' in their previous matchup on April 14th against Trinity by a conclusive 15-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
