The Palm Desert Aztecs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Rancho Mirage 56-9 at home. Palm Desert has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.
Palm Desert found their leader in underclassman Katelyn Gallagher, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 steals. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Gallagher has scored at least a third of Palm Desert's points. Ava Tethal was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.
The win (which was Palm Desert's third in a row) raised their record to 13-7. As for Rancho Mirage, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-19.
Palm Desert will head out on the road to challenge Shadow Hills at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rancho Mirage, they will be playing at home against La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
