Softball Recap: Hastings Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Hastings won the last time they faced Lincoln Northwest and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Tigers never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

BROOKE OCHSNER made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one triple.

In other batting news, PYPER WITTE and ELLA TINSMAN did most of the damage at the plate: WITTE went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while TINSMAN went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that TINSMAN has hit this season. ZARA OSGOOD was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Hastings always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Northwest only posted an OBP of .300.

Hastings pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln Northwest, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Coming up, Hastings will head out to square off against Gretna at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lincoln Northwest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gretna East at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
