Independence took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against South, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The 76ers skirted past the Bulldogs 11-9. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the 76ers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Corinthian Malone was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Richard Kearney, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 3-8. As for South, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Independence will challenge Walnut Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The 76ers are facing the Scots at the right time seeing as the Scots are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for South, they will face off against Africentric Early College at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will also cruise into their next match with the timing on their side: the Nubians will have lost three straight heading into Thursday's contest.
