Football Recap: Tyler Warner Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Uniontown

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Sumner [Caldwell/South Haven], Southeast was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 40-18 margin over the Uniontown Eagles. The Lancers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Southeast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Warner, who picked up 46 receiving yards and one TD, and also punched in one rushing score.

Southeast was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 290 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Uniontown only rushed for 160.

Southeast didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Warner picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colter Powell, who rushed for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 86 yards and one TD. Uniontown also got a significant boost from Gaige Lape, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.

The victory got Southeast back to even at 2-2. As for Uniontown, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southeast will square off against Erie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will be up against the Red Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 43 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Uniontown, they will face off against St. Mary's-Colgan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
