Granite Hills has gone 8-1 against Valhalla recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Norsemen at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Granite Hills' favor as the team sits on 15 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Valhalla has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
Granite Hills' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Grossmont 14-0. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Phillip Jones and Brodey Vicars did most of the damage at the plate: Jones went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Vicars went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Jones has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Anthony Miotti, who went 1-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Granite Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Valhalla hadn't done well against Helix recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Norsemen narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Highlanders 3-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Norsemen as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Jesse McCormick, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Mace Wheeler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Granite Hills' victory bumped their record up to 14-0-2. As for Valhalla, their win bumped their record up to 6-14.
Valhalla's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Granite Hills has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. It's a different story for Valhalla, though, as they've only averaged .364. Will they be able to contain Granite Hills' hitters?
