The Valmeyer Pirates will head out to square off against the Wesclin Warriors at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Valmeyer not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 7th (when they won 15-0). Everything went their way against Marissa/Coulterville as they made off with an 11-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.
Evan Potts got the start for Valmeyer and what a start it was: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Potts has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Valmeyer got a massive performance out of Luke Blackwell, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Blackwell has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Blanchard, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Valmeyer kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marissa/Coulterville only managed seven.
Meanwhile, while Wesclin put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Okawville. The Warriors blew past the Rockets 11-0.
Lucas Harriss made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wesclin is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Harriss was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, Kennett Spalding was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Wesclin is 3-1 when Spalding posts two or more runs, but 3-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gage Gerstner, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Wesclin's record now sits at 6-10. As for Valmeyer, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Valmeyer has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Wesclin struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Valmeyer might still be hurting after the 16-4 loss they got from Wesclin in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
