Valley Christian extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 23-5-1 in the process. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the St. Ignatius College Preparatory Wildcats. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Christopher Buck looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Logan Mull was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jordan Ortiz, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-9-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since April 17th.

On St. Ignatius College Preparatory's side, they got a good showing from Tycco Giometti, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, St. Ignatius College Preparatory saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Gordon, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Coming up, Valley Christian will be taking part in a tournament against Bellarmine College Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Warriors have won eight straight at home, while the Bells won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. St. Ignatius College Preparatory does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
