In this week's power rankings, we saw one team go soaring up and another team come crashing down, along with everything in between. Part of the action? A towering 112-point combined score for Buffalo and Cambridge-Isanti.
No Stoppin 'Em
Buffalo has been an offensive powerhouse for three straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. It breezed past Cambridge-Isanti with a final score of 70 - 42. Buffalo did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. The combined 112-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Edina and Minnetonka, 10th and 15th in the power rankings, respectively. Edina finished its game with a 21 - 7 win. It saw its record improve to 5-1 and its power rank jump seven places as a result.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (seven consecutive games). Pierz picked up a decisive 'W' against Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, finishing up at 69 - 7. Nevertheless, Pierz did not have enough punch to impress the power rankings algorithm and slipped eight spots in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Prior Lake (8th in the power rankings) and Lakeville North (1st). This will be the second consecutive road game for Lakeville North. Both the Lakeville North and Prior Lake defenses have allowed few points this year (averaging 11 ppg and 11 ppg, respectively), so the teams might find scoring more difficult than usual this week.
