The Calaveras Red Hawks won the last time they faced the Bret Harte Bullfrogs, and things went their way on Friday too. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Calaveras made off with a 40-39 victory over Bret Harte. The win made it back-to-back wins for Calaveras.
Calaveras was led to victory by Emma Clark and Izzy Tapia. Clark scored seven points along with seven rebounds and five steals, while Tapia scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks. Clark has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Calaveras pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Bret Harte, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calaveras will challenge Summerville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Summerville is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak. Bret Harte on the road again on Tuesday and play against Argonaut at 7:15 p.m. on January 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Argonaut is ranked 556th, while Bret Harte is ranked 560th).
