Rock Canyon and ThunderRidge are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2015, but likely not for long. The Jaguars will welcome the Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
ThunderRidge will be up against a hot Rock Canyon team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Jaguars put the hurt on Heritage with a sharp 14-2 victory on Friday. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Lucy Longmire was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Lucy Ueland was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Rock Canyon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 11-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, ThunderRidge hadn't done well against Douglas County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Grizzlies blew past the Huskies 16-6. With that win, the Grizzlies brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Leah Barbee and Aubrey Conant did most of the damage at the plate: Barbee got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Conant went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Conant has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Reagan Lodden, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Rock Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for ThunderRidge, their win bumped their record up to 6-12.
ThunderRidge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rock Canyon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.7 hits per game. It's a different story for ThunderRidge, though, as they've been averaging 10.6 hits. Given Rock Canyon's sizable advantage in that area, the Grizzlies will need to find a way to close that gap.
