The Leonardtown Raiders entered their tilt with the Model Secondary School for the Deaf Eagles with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Leonardtown walked away with a 68-56 victory over the Eagles on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading Leonardtown to victory were Darius Searles and Elijah Miller. Searles dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Miller scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Landon Windell was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Tyler Burckhardt and Luke Florio certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Burckhardt scored 25 points along with five assists, while Florio almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Pax Holcomb, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Even though they lost, Model Secondary School for the Deaf were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Leonardtown is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Leonardtown will be playing at home against the at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Charles is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season. As for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
