The Prospect Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Leland Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Prospect is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Prospect fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Lincoln on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 3-2. The Panthers have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Jeremy Wang put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Prospect's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).
Meanwhile, Leland waltzed into their contest on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They came out on top against the Matadors by a score of 8-3. While the Chargers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Leland also got a great performance from Zach Sutton as he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Sutton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cole Canter was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with one triple and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Chang, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Leland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Prospect's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Leland, their record is now 10-2.
Prospect's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Panthers have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Leland, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Prospect continue to outrun the ball?
Prospect came up short against Leland when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 10-6. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
