Rafael Vicente made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Compton: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Anthony Jacobo was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Long Beach Poly was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell just short of Woodrow Wilson by a score of 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Long Beach Poly's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Compton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. It's a different story for Long Beach Poly, though, as they've only averaged .318. Will they be able to contain Compton's hitters?
