Pueblo East had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 10-10 to make it six. They came up short against the Pueblo Central Wildcats, falling 22-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-4 on September 11th.
Pueblo East saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luciana Cervantes, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
As for Pueblo Central, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
On Pueblo Central's side, Kaydence Martinez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Martinez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Charley Autobee was excellent, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Perez, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Coming up, Pueblo East will venture away from home to face off against Pueblo County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pueblo Central, they will be playing at home against Pueblo Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
