The West Valley Mustangs will be taking part in a tournament against the Cornerstone Christian Crusaders at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornerstone Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on West Valley, who comes in off a win.
West Valley's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Cathedral City with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Nate Navarrete made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Juarez, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ricky Garcia was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.
West Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cathedral City only posted an OBP of .222.
Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian fell victim to Nuview Bridge and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-0. The loss was the Crusaders' first of the season.
Cornerstone Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Kelly, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases.
Having lost for the first time this season, Cornerstone Christian fell to 2-1. As for West Valley, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
