The Wray Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Limon Badgers on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Badgers 58-54. Wray was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Badgers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Wray still got an impressive performance from Dori Saffer, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Saffer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Addison Jones was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Jentri Marx continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Limon, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Marx has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last 14 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Teal Schmidt, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Wray now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Limon, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Wray won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Fightin' Bulldogs at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Haxtun is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Limon, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Burlington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 36 last Tuesday.
