Edison is 0-10 against Stagg since April of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Vikings will take on the Delta Kings at 4:00 p.m. Edison has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Edison is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They lost 19-3 to Downey.
Edison saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Chacon, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Stagg has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.79 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against Franklin, falling 12-4. The loss continues a trend for the Delta Kings in their meetings with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost four in a row.
Aelias Guerrero put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Jackson Brooks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Christiano Shaw was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Edison's record is now 3-6-1. As for Stagg, their record now sits at 9-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edison has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Stagg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Edison suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Stagg in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
