Even though the Kings Mountain Mountaineers have not done well against the Shelby Golden Lions recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Kings Mountain strolled past Shelby with points to spare, taking the game 65-50. For Kings Mountain, this counts as revenge for the 52-49 defeat Shelby walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Kings Mountain was led to victory by Caleb Nixon and Bradley Floyd. Nixon scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Floyd dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kee'donn Linney, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Kings Mountain's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Shelby, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-1.
Kings Mountain will be home for the holidays to greet Stuart W. Cramer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stuart W. Cramer is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games. As for Shelby, they will head out on the road to face off against Watauga at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
