Poly is 10-0 against Monroe since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Poly Parrots will head out on the road to square off against the Monroe Vikings at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Poly has three straight wins, Monroe has 20 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Poly posted their biggest victory yet this season on Friday. They blew past North Hollywood 66-27 at home. With Poly ahead 42-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Audrey Flores was on fire: she scored 33 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Stephanie Claybon was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Monroe took a serious blow against Verdugo Hills on Wednesday, falling 53-13. While losing is never fun, Monroe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1258th, while Verdugo Hills is ranked 492nd).
Poly has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Monroe, they bumped their record down to 0-8 with that loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Poly barely slipped by Monroe when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 1-0. Will Poly repeat their success, or does Monroe have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
