Even though the Locust Fork Hornets have not done well against the Oneonta Redskins recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Locust Fork rang in the new year with a 59-48 victory over Oneonta. The win made it back-to-back wins for Locust Fork.
Locust Fork's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalon Boatright led the charge by scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Titus White, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Locust Fork's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Oneonta, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Locust Fork will face off against Cold Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cold Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 395th, while Locust Fork is ranked 117th). Oneonta and Southeastern will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
