The Temecula Valley Golden Bears will take on the Great Oak Wolfpack at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Temecula Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Temecula Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past St. Paul 4-3.
Chase Hilt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Hilt was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Temecula Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Paul only managed ten hits.
Meanwhile, while Great Oak put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for San Marino. The Wolfpack blew past the Titans 7-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolfpack.
Roy Kim looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Great Oak is 5-1 when Kim allows one or fewer earned runs, but 8-15 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Fien, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Sam Pink was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Temecula Valley pushed their record up to 17-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Great Oak, their record now sits at 13-16.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Temecula Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Great Oak struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Temecula Valley might still be hurting after the 13-5 loss they got from Great Oak in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Golden Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
