The Lewis Central Titans will head out to face off against the Sioux City East Black Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sioux City East took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lewis Central, who comes in off a win.
Sioux City East will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Lewis Central extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Titans' pitcher stepped up to hand Red Oak a 13-0 shutout. Considering the Titans have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Cami Damgaard was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Damgaard was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Aubree Davis and Camryn King did most of the damage at the plate: Davis got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while King went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Paige Schaben also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Lewis Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Sioux City East entered their matchup against Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Black Raiders came up short against the Warriors, falling 13-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Black Raiders have suffered since June 13th.
Lewis Central pushed their record up to 21-7 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Sioux City East, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5.
Lewis Central might still be hurting after the 13-5 defeat they got from Sioux City East when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Can the Titans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
