The Christian Brothers Falcons entered their tilt with the St. Francis Troubadours with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Christian Brothers had just enough and edged St. Francis out 60-57. Given Christian Brothers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while St. Francis is ranked 289th), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christian Brothers got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aleyah Harmon out in front who scored 18 points along with seven assists and three steals. Harmon is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Joy Omishakin was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
St. Francis' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bria McGahan, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi London, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Christian Brothers pushed their record up to 13-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for St. Francis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christian Brothers will take on Del Campo at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Del Campo has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12. As for St. Francis, they will be playing at home against Elk Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Elk Grove has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 7.
