Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Patriots vs. Archer Tigers

The Heritage Patriots will face off against the Archer Tigers at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Heritage is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against South Gwinnett on Friday as Heritage made off with a 19-9 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Patriots, who have now won five games in a row.

Heritage let Charles Walker and Adam Bolton run wild. Walker scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Bolton scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Bolton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cal Lumpkin, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Archer, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on Tucker with a sharp 18-3 victory on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Archer considering their two-run performance the match before.

Noah Parsons made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Apollo Bailey was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Jalen Burnette was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.

Archer has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. Heritage pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.
