Moon Area is 3-0 against Aliquippa since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Moon Area Tigers will jump right back in to play the Aliquippa Quips at 11:30 a.m. After both teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky.
Moon Area has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 21 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 60-39 margin over Rochester. Given Moon Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Rochester is ranked 267th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moon Area's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayla Brown, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Leiana Rucker was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, everything went Aliquippa's way against Ellwood City last Wednesday as Aliquippa made off with a 60-35 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Aliquippa.
Moon Area's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Aliquippa, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Everything came up roses for Moon Area against Aliquippa in their previous matchup back in December of 2019 as the squad secured a 76-36 victory. With Moon Area ahead 51-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
