Walker Valley is 0-7 against McMinn County since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Walker Valley Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the McMinn County Cherokees at 7:30 p.m. Walker Valley will be strutting in after a win while McMinn County will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Walker Valley beat PURE Academy 21-8.
Evan Schwarzl looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, McMinn County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 28-14 to Powell. McMinn County was down 28-7 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Walker Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for McMinn County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Things could have been worse for Walker Valley, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 24-7 loss to McMinn County in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Walker Valley, Caden Hester (who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 152 yards and a touchdown while completing 75% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
