The Manteca Buffaloes won the last time they faced the El Capitan Gauchos, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Manteca walked away with a 50-39 victory over El Capitan.
Manteca got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaesha Dunn out in front who scored nine points along with ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dunn has scored all season. Taimane Tuuga was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Several Gauchos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shantelle Magana, who scored 14 points along with eight steals. Magana is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Avnoor Bains, who scored 11 points along with six steals.
Manteca's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-3. As for El Capitan, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.
Manteca will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Mountain House at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Mountain House focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Saturday. As for El Capitan, they will be playing at home against Merced at 7:15 p.m. on January 4th.
