The Meyersdale Red Raiders lost against the Northern Huskies back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Meyersdale took a hard 43-25 fall against Northern. While losing is never fun, Meyersdale can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 526th in Pennsylvania, while Northern is ranked 112th in Maryland).
When it comes to explaining why Meyersdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Laurel Daniels. Despite the final result, she scored eight points along with two steals.
Meyersdale has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Northern, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Meyersdale's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Windber at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hopefully Windber focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 last Thursday. Northern will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Bishop Walsh at 6:00 p.m. on January 15th.
