The Sun Valley Vanguards gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They took down Carver High School of Engineering & Science 49-31.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikaela Briggs, who scored 6 points along with 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Savannah Hall, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Sun Valley's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Carver High School of Engineering & Science, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Sun Valley will head out on the road to face off against Brandywine at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Carver High School of Engineering & Science, they will be playing at home against Parkway West at 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
