The Righetti Warriors will take on the Central Catholic Raiders in a tournament on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Righetti hadn't beaten Arroyo Grande on the road since April 22, 2023 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Eagles 11-10. Considering the Warriors' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Blake Thayer was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob McMillan, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Righetti lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Central Catholic waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Mustangs get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. Considering the Raiders have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayden McHenry made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other pitching news, Eli Garret looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Hudson Walker was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. AJ Miligi was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Central Catholic pushed their record up to 17-6 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Righetti, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Righetti hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Central Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
