Ranked No. 1 in this week's MaxPreps Top 25 high school volleyball rankings as it has been all season,
Byron Nelson (Trophy Club) began its quest for a second straight state championship in Texas with a playoff-opening win over
Lake Ridge (Mansfield) last week.
In addition to back-to-back state titles, Byron Nelson could become just the second team to be crowned national champion by MaxPreps in consecutive seasons.
The 3-1 victory Tuesday over Lake Ridge marked just the fourth dropped set all season by the Bobcats, who have won 73 straight matches dating back to last season.
Midland is up next in the Conference 6A Division 1 bracket. A showdown with
Allen, No. 40 in our expanded rankings, looms in the third round albeit minus sophomore sensation
Maya Ogbogu, who is playing with USA Volleyball in the 2025 NORCECA U17 Continental Championship.

Marymount (Los Angeles) while the Monarchs dispatched

NFHS Network.
