Basketball Recap: Emmitt Bell Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

Somerset Sky Pointe's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They secured a 56-50 W over the Pahrump Valley Trojans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Somerset Sky Pointe got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emmitt Bell out in front who posted 18 points. The contest was Bell's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ja'Cory Gory, who put up 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Despite the defeat, Pahrump Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Toth went 6 for 15 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Toth has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keir Sheppard, who had 16 points.

Somerset Sky Pointe's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Pahrump Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Somerset Sky Pointe will challenge Cheyenne at 6:30 p.m. on January 6th. Somerset Sky Pointe is facing Cheyenne at the right time seeing as Cheyenne is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Pahrump Valley, they will square off against Doral Academy Red Rock at 6:30 p.m. on January 6th.
