Baseball Recap: Palm Desert Sets Scoring Season-High Against Shadow Hills

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Palm Desert). They put the hurt on the Shadow Hills Knights with a sharp 16-5 win on Friday. The Aztecs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 28, 2024.

Palm Desert let Stevie Hutchinson and Addison Seuss run wild. Hutchinson went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Seuss went 1-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Hutchinson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Gibbs, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Palm Desert was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Palm Desert has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. Shadow Hills dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palm Desert will head out to square off against Palm Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Shadow Hills, they will venture away from home to challenge Rancho Mirage at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shadow Hills is facing Rancho Mirage at the right time seeing as Rancho Mirage is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
