The Lanai Pine Lads's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Kalaheo 46-42. Lanai was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Kalaheo apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kalaheo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Illiana Leasiolagi, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Leasiolagi has scored at least 25% of Kalaheo's points. Another player making a difference was Tayshah Ukauka, who scored 12 points along with 4 steals and 3 blocks.
Lanai bumped their record down to 0-3 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Kalaheo, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lanai will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Seabury Hall at 7:00 p.m. on January 19, 2024. Kalaheo will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Baldwin at 10:00 a.m. on December 2nd.
