It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Valencia Vikings can now relate to. They were beaten by the Eagles 71-42 on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Valencia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while Oak Park is ranked 66th).
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Libby Oxciano, who scored 15 points along with two steals. Oxciano is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Keira McLaughlin, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Valencia's defeat dropped their record down to 12-17. As for Oak Park, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-7.
Valencia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Oak Park will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Silverado at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Silverado has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 815 points over their last 12 matches.
