Softball Recap: Truman Wins Going Away Against Ruskin

Truman never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past the Ruskin Golden Eagles 20-0. The game marked the Patriots' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Taylen Parker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Parker was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Tori Shearer and Adleigh Jeffries did most of the damage at the plate: Shearer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Jeffries went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. Shearer is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Piper Fatool, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Truman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .923. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Truman has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Ruskin, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Truman and Ruskin will both be playing Raytown the next time they take the field. The Golden Eagles will host the Bluejays at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Patriots will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
