Basketball Recap: Cholla's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Cholla waltzed into their game on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They were the clear victor by a 75-51 margin over the Douglas Bulldogs. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Cholla was led to victory by Michael Payne and Cyree Jenkins. Payne almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine assists, while Jenkins went 7 for 10 en route to 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Payne is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joel Servin, who posted nine points and six boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Cholla was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Douglas still got an impressive performance from Ryan Felix, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 18 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Felix is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Diego Lopez was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Cholla's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 81.3 points over those games. As for Douglas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Cholla will take on Marana at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cholla knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine contests -- so hopefully Marana likes a good challenge. Douglas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
