The Concord Academy Eagles fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Carmel Christian Cougars on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 78-75. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Friday (69), Concord Academy still had to take the loss.
Concord Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sean Birmingham, who scored 22 points. Sherod McCormick was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Concord Academy and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Carmel Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-7.
Concord Academy is on the road again on Thursday and play against Covenant Day at 1:30 p.m. on December 21st. Carmel Christian will take on Lake Norman in a holiday battle at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at. One thing working in Lake Norman's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
