The Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 57-24 loss at the hands of Niobrara/Verdigre. While losing is never fun, Chambers/Wheeler Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 214th, while Niobrara/Verdigre is ranked 85th).
Ella Moses was Chambers/Wheeler Central's leading scorer, having posted nine points.
Annabel Waldo took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with four assists.
Josilyn Miller continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Niobrara/Verdigre, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 steals. Miller is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Delani Runnels, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Chambers/Wheeler Central are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.7 points per game. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Chambers/Wheeler Central will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Stuart at 2:00 p.m. on January 27th. Niobrara/Verdigre will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Central at 6:00 p.m. on February 5th.
