Baseball Recap: Palm Springs Comes Up Short

Palm Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Santa Ana Saints. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Sean Meza made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Palm Springs: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 3-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Ernesto Arroyo, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Palm Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Santa Ana, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Palm Springs will take on St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Santa Ana, they will face off against Godinez Fundamental at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
